30 days of thankful 2020 – #3

We have had some beautiful weather. The sun has been shining and the skies have been so blue. It is getting colder which means wool sweaters and down vests. I grew up in Arizona and went to college in Southern California. I always yearned for the winter clothes I saw in the magazines.

So today, on a day when emotions will be on high alert, I am thankful for this weather. I am thankful for the burst of energy that makes me want to do all the things. I know the rain is coming. And the blue sky will turn to grey. The days will get shorter. But right now, I am holding on to that blue sky and way the sun makes those yellow leaves glow. In fact, I think those would be great colors for a winter hat.

  1. That’s a beautiful photo. I find myself very susceptible to letting the weather influence my mood. I’m glad we have blue skies today, too.

  2. may the sun shine light on people’s hearts today. I miss feeling safe in my own country. I know what you mean about weather as I grew up in Florida and longed to wear a sweater. Now we live in Colorado where it’s 80 one day and 2F then next. Makes it hard to adjust to any of it. Plus the temps may be 40 F but in the sun it feels like 65 and hot!

  3. Having grown up in a ‘Lake Effect’ region…then living in Boston….and now Colorado…layers and wool and vest and boots, etc., have always been a part of my annual rhythm. Your description of yearning for them by way of magazines offers me such perspective! I’m glad you enjoy the shift. (I do, too!)

  4. We are expecting another sunny day here, and for that I am thankful — my mood is always better when the sky is blue and the sun is shining! I’m glad you’re enjoying wearing your woolies!

  5. The beautiful weather has made my daily gratitude list every day this week! Tanis (@tanisfiberarts) shared a new hat pattern today that looks just like this photo. The colors are stunning.
