Hello to healthy choices

Winter means rain (hopefully rain and not snow) in my part of the world. I have written about the importance of having good gear for all the weather changes. And I do have a few choices for rain gear. The next important thing is to get myself out the door on on the road. That takes a different kind of motivation. But this month I am saying Hello to healthy choices so out the door I went.

I am taking parting in Veganuary. This is less of a stretch because I had pretty much eliminated meat and most dairy over the last few months. Now I am working on adding variety to my meal plans. This morning I prepped a few meals and did some cook ahead, very important for helping me get more veggies on my plate.

I have a spot where I can have my yoga mat rolled out all the time. This helped me get in four Pilates workouts per week in December. This month I am joining many of you for Adriene’s 30 day Breathe practice. I even ordered the Yoga Jellies that Kym mentioned, hoping to make that daily practice a bit easier on my wrists.

I am not making resolutions, just looking for ways I can say Hello to healthy choices and new beginnings. Hope your new year is off to a good beginning.

  1. What an excellent start to your new year! I want to order those yoga jellies too – I have major pain in my wrists when I do certain poses in yoga and I really need to pay attention to that and find a remedy. Love that picture of you with rain on your glasses and your rain gear on. Bravo to you for getting up and out the door!

  2. I am very interested in the Veganuary journey! I love all of the ways you’re welcoming healthy choices into your life right now. I still haven’t done any of the Yoga with Adriene practices this month. TODAY. I’m starting today! 🙂

  3. I’ll be interested to hear about your meal experiments/experiences this month. I still eat meat and dairy but have been trying to get more plant-based meals into my diet.

  4. Yay for healthy choices! (see what I did there 😉 Kym almost made me check out Adriene … you might be the push I need to really do it!

  5. Growing up in your neck of the woods we never really gave the rain a second thought. I really dislike being outside when the weather is crappy! Especially the wind blowing dirt around!! Good for you- I’m encouraged!

  6. Veggies, yoga, and outdoors-no-matter-the-weather sound like awesome Hellos to the New Year!! Your picture is making me crave some rainfall. (I can’t for the life of me remember the last time it rained here.) Enjoy Adriene. I’m practicing with you there!

  7. I ordered those yoga jellies too because my wrists really ache sometimes! Good for you for making incremental healthy decisions.

  8. Looks like you have a nice raincoat! We’ve been walking with our umbrellas lately but still get wet; and then there’s the wind gusts! I almost felt like Mary Poppins. Where do you find your Pilates exercises? My Pilates teacher shut down her studio because of Covid and I miss it. What made you decide to eliminate meat and dairy from your diet?
